The internet has posed a new struggle for posting blogs and I hesitate at saying my body is used to the new time zone because I have laid low the past few days. I arrived safely to Dublin airport on Friday morning and soon there after caught a bus to Kilkenny where I met up with my sweet friend Alex that studied at WCU this past year and goes to GMIT.
Woke up early the next morning and caught a bus to Dublin to visit Alex's soon to be housemate Aideen to explore Dublin and then celebrate her 21st birthday. Dublin is such a unique city and I will definitely have to return for a longer visit. After meeting up with Aideen and her friend Sarah we took a bus into city center to do some exploring. I got to experience my first pub and buy my first legal drink in Ireland which led to the discovery of a new favorite beer/cider which is Orchard Thieves.
Also check out these cool pics from wandering around Dublin, venturing in and out of cool shops
Finally it was time to head back to Aideen's house and get ready for her 21st birthday party where I get to experience an Irish birthday celebration. Not much needs to be said besides I got a number of political questions and enjoyed some tasty rose wine. Please ignore the uncooperative numbers
On to my first European train adventure which isn't as thrilling as it sounds when I have two very heavy bags and a backpack.
My apartment isn't perfect but what student accommodations are? I checked into my apartment and figured out what I needed for heading to shop. Many euros later and our apartment has almost everything we need, until we realize something else we realize we're missing.
Here are some pics of my first few days in my new town venturing out to the college, local lake, pub, and crepe place.
Marshaling the Achill Island Adventure Race this weekend so pictures coming soon!
